ABOUT

Somatic Thai Bodywork(STB) focuses on the body-mind connection and begins with trusting the inherent intelligence and homeostasis of our bodies.

STB uses osteopathic principles to recreate the unique Thai massage technique softer, more delicately and more harmonious.

Especially inspired by Osteothai, a fusion work of Thai massage and osteopathy.

The practicinor primarily palpates the fascia which is a network throughout the body, and joints, performing rocking(swinging) and rotational movements, pressure and release, while listening carefully to the body reactions.

Non-manipulative touch and movement takes you into a state of deep relaxation where the healing process activates and the body begins to regulate itself with involuntary movements. This is often the moment when the subconscious mind comes to the surface.

The workshop builds a Somatic Thai Bodywork sequence as a basic practice. We will exchange a 70-80 minute of improvisational full body sessions from feet to head, front and back as a result of the practice on the final day.

(Expect this to be completely different from regular traditional Thai massage)

The teaching is unconventional and freely respects the individuality of the participants. Considering each body type and issue, we approach from various angles and give tools for individual study.

STB is not a one-sided method of leaving someone else to heal you; rather, it is a form of bodywork that supports the process of awareness by broadening the practitioner's perspective and expanding consciousness, and by witnessing the mutual response (body intelligence) between practitioner and recipient.

We will emphasize what direct experience of the present moment feels like, rather than on theory or what it should be. The silent space created by deep listening and reading the air is full of abundance and possibility.

You will actually witness your touch and consciousness affect the cells of the body.

Being aware of these interactions helps us understand chronic physical discomfort and unexplained pain.

This is an introduction to the somatic exploration and healing journey.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Mikis Tapaswi was born and grow up in northan part of Japan.

He was introduced to Reiki and Noguchi Seitai in 2008.

In 2011, when the tsunami hit the Pacific side of Japan, he took the initiative to go to a buddist temple which was an evacuation center and naturally began to touch and massage for victims.

This experience gave him a deep inspiration for touch and buddhism. And in the same year he went to Chiang Mai, Thailand to learn Thai massage.

Since then he has taken many Thai massage courses includes Chi Nei Tsang, Tok Sen, Chinese reflexology, Moxa therapy, Gua sha and other bodywork.

The fusion work of Thai massage and osteopathy "Osteothai" has been taught by co-founder David Lutt since 2016.

Idea of Osteothai create his foundation and shape his practice.

In recent years, he has been actively researching Contact improvisation, Authentic movement, Craniosacral Biodynamics and Gestalt therapy, Katsugen undo as a somatic field.

Since 2021, he moved his base to Thailand and continue to provide individual sessions, as well as regular Bodywork and Contact improvisation classes and workshops.

He has held workshops in Japan, Thailand, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Czech republic so far.

His skill and courteous touch are endorsed by a wide range of clients around the world.
